Back ButtonIs Negativity Keeping You From Getting A Job?

Description: depressed 1.jpg

Negativity, like a fungal disease, starts out small, clings, and grows until it festers and requires immediate attention.  Negativity is an employment threatening disease requiring immediate attention.  When you entertain negativity your demeanor, facial expression, and voice tone resonate gloom and doom.   To an employer, a melancholy  job seeker is always a “no-go”.   Gloominess is an communicable viral disease and employers don’t want their workforce catching it.

No one would deny that it is tough to be out of work, looking for a job, and trying to keeping a positive outlook.   It takes self-discipline’s empowerment over the problems you face.  If you combine it with setting goals, planning and passion it is like being a member of a super bowl team – a winner!  Everyone has the capacity to discipline themselves - as evidenced by persons who set a weight goal and attain it, or a physically challenged person who races to the finish line. It requires setting your mind to future and not asking yourself “why” but saying “I’m ready to move on”.

Set small goals first, and then develop a strategic plan and non-static daily routine.  Mix it up a bit, but accomplish as much as you can.  Most importantly, don’t compare yourself to anyone, and remember to focus on goal achievement and the resources you will need to get there. While you are job searching – prepare yourself an escape island for when you start to feel anxious or depressed.  Have a favorite movie, video game, book or recipe you like to cook?  Every time you start to feel anxiety or depression coming on, go to your escape island and let it take the feeling away.  As you accomplish the small goals in your employment search, you can move on to bigger and better and beyond…employment.
